5. FastConnect Market Data

Data latency, historical data, and the unified model for equity/derivative instruments.

Is Market Data delayed?

It depends on the channel: WebSocket pushes data the moment an event happens (lowest latency), while REST API returns data updated periodically. For real-time decision-making, prefer WebSocket over polling REST.

How far back does historical (OHLC) data go, and are there limits?

Daily candle data is available from the security's first trading date; intraday candles (1m, 5m, ...) are stored for a more recent window. For bulk data needs, you can use the batch historical data download (file/zip) instead of making many individual API calls.

Can I get data for both equity and derivative instruments through the same API?

Yes — the Market Data API uses a single unified model for both equity and derivative instruments (no need to integrate two separate APIs like before), distinguished by exchange/instrument-type parameters in the request.
